About Us

Douglas RFC is a Rugby Club based in the village of Douglas just outside Cork city. We were originally founded in 1902 and re-founded in 1978 under the guidance of Joe O'Reilly (RIP) and Seamus Corkery. Our President for the 2014/15 season is Dara Philpott and our Club Captain is David Murphy and Vice-Captain is Liam Hynes.

Adult teams…

Adult training is at 7pm every Tuesday and Thursday evening at the pitch in Moneygourney (click here for directions). The Club is delighted to have the services of Stewart Philpott as Head Coach. Assisting Stewart is Dave Callaghan and Chris O’Donovan. The team Manager is Bob Costigan. We would like to wish our Senior team all the very best for the forthcoming season as we push on for promotion.

Underage teams…

Registration for our Under Age (mini to Under 13) and Youths (U15/17/19) takes place early September at the pitch in Moneygourney (click here for directions). Underage training takes place every Saturday morning at 10.30. If you missed the registration day don’t worry, come along any Saturday morning and we’ll be happy to take your details, just speak with Dara or Grace in the shop.

Tag rugby…

During the summer we organise Tag Rugby for children (girls and boys) and adults. Both members and non-members are always very welcome to join in the fun. We run the Tag in June and on the final evening we always finish up with a BBQ for all the participants and their families.

We’ve been very lucky for the past few years to get a visit from Santa. Subject to his busy schedule we hope that he’ll be able to drop by on our last training day before Christmas again this year. That’ll help us get the festive season off to a good start with a carol or two from the coaches!
